can i tax my company car?

If you exercise an employment or run a business with a company car that is also used for private purposes, a special tax facility will be
applicable to you. The benefit entailed by the private use of a passenger car or van made available by your employer will be taxed as wages in kind. This addition will be reduced by wage tax/national insurance contributions and the income-related contribution towards the health care insurance scheme. This addition is a percentage of the value of the car. The addition for private use applies to passenger cars and vans.

The value of a passenger car is based on the original list price of the car in the Netherlands, including VAT and private motor vehicle and motorcycle tax (Belasting op personenauto’s en motorrijwielen, or BPM). This also applies if the car was purchased abroad or is registered abroad. As long as no BPM is owed on vans, the value of a van is based on the list price including VAT. In addition, certain vans may be eligible for a relaxed facility. If your car is older than 15 years, the addition for private use will be a percentage of the market value.

BLUE TAX | DUTCH INCOME TAX RETURN FIING

Are you employed or do you receive a benefit? In that case you pay taxes on your income because your employer or benefits agency withholds wage tax and national insurance contributions.

However, your employer or benefits agency does not fully take into account your
personal household situation.

You may therefore be entitled to a tax credit or have deductible items such as the
mortgage rebate (‘hypotheekrenteaftrek’) based on an owner-occupied house,
and/or study, medical or special childcare expenses.

Do you expect to receive an income tax refund this year, not necessarily you have to await next year for your tax refund. Already now it is possible to receive a provisional tax refund.

Let us do the work for you and apply for your provisional income tax refund.
You will be entitled to receive a monthly refund this year on the basis of a preliminary assessment. Once you have applied for a provisional tax refund for the first time, you will automatically receive a provisional tax refund in each fiscal year.
